CBackup Limit, Limitation, Restriction, and Note

CBackup makes cross-cloud transfer convenient and easy, but there are some limitations you should notice for transferring folders/files accurately. For example, you'd better not contain any special characters in your names of folders/files like \ / * : ? < > | " ~ $ , and you should know the size limit of each cloud drive. Particularly you may notice that there are some office file conversion when transferring with Google Drive and there is a request limit in OneDrive. In most cloud drives, a folder/file name can't contain any of the following characters: \ / * : ? < > | "

Google Drive Limitation

Backup/Sync Limitations 

1. When there are special characters in the name of a file or folder, it may not be possible to back up/Sync from Google Drive to other cloud disks.

2. Currently, it does not support backing up/Syncing files such as Google Forms, Google Drawings, Google My Maps, Google Sites, Face, Age, Gender Detect, Google Apps Script, Google Jamboard, etc.

OneDrive Limitation

Backup Limitations

1. Each user can only send a given number of requests (2000~3000) to OneDrive every day, otherwise you will receive an error: The cloud drive request has reached the upper limit.

2. The following files cannot be backed up to OneDrive:

  • Files with a file size of 0.

  • The file name starts with a space.

  • The file name contains: \ /:? * "|

  • Files have the following extensions: ".ashx", ".asmx", ".asp", ".aspq", ".axd", ".cshtm", ".chtml", ".json", ".rem ", ".shtm"".shtml", ".soap", ".stm", ".svc", ".vbhtm", ".vbhtml", ".xamlx"

3. The following folders cannot be backed up/synchronized to OneDrive:

  • The folder name contains: \ /:? * "|

  • The folder starts with a space or "."

  • The number of characters in the folder name exceeds 375.

Sync Limitations 

1. Each user can only send a given number of requests (2000~3000) to OneDrive every day, otherwise you will receive an error: The cloud drive request has reached the upper limit.

2. The following files cannot be synchronized to OneDrive:

  • Files with a file size of 0.

  • The file name starts with a space.

  • The file name contains: \ /:? * "|

  • Files have the following extensions: ".ashx", ".asmx", ".asp", ".aspq", ".axd", ".cshtm", ".chtml", ".json", ".rem ", ".shtm", ".shtml", ".soap", ".stm", ".svc", ".vbhtm", ".vbhtml", ".xamlx"

3. The following folders cannot be synchronized to OneDrive:

  • The folder name contains: \ /:? * "|

  • The folder starts with a space or "."

  • The folder name is: "COM1", "COM2", "COM3", "COM4", "COM5", "COM6", "COM7", "COM8", "COM9", "LPT1", "LPT2", "LPT3", "LPT4", "LPT5", "LPT6", "LPT7", "LPT8", "LPT9", "PRN", "AUX", "NUL", "CON"

  • The folder name is empty.

  • The number of characters in the folder name exceeds 400.

Dropbox Limitation

Backup Limitations

1. The following files cannot be backed up to Dropbox:

  • The file name contains: \ /

  • The file name starts with "~$"

  • TMP files cannot start with an invalid character ~ (for example: ~file.tmp)

  • The number of characters in the file name exceeds 240

2. The following folders cannot be backed up to Dropbox:

  • The folder name contains: \ /

  • Invalid folder name: "." ".."

  • The number of characters in the folder name exceeds 240.

Sync Limitations 

1. The following files cannot be synced to Dropbox:

  • The file name contains: \ /

  • The file name starts with "~$"

  • TMP files cannot start with an invalid character ~ (for example: ~file.tmp).

  • The file name is empty.

  • The number of characters in the file name exceeds 255.

  • Files that will be ignored: .dropbox.attr, .dropbox, .ds_store, desktop.ini, thumbs.db.

2. The following folders cannot be synchronized to Dropbox:

  • The folder name contains: \ /

  • Invalid folder name: "." ".."

  • The folder name is empty

  • The number of characters in the folder name exceeds 255.
